About This Site

ABOUT EATERY is a site of free online games with the neon left burning all night. Everything runs in the browser: tap a card and that title starts. There is no sign-up step, no email field anywhere, and nothing that lands on your device. Anyone opening the front page should work that out in about a second, before wondering what it is going to cost them.

This web address carried something else long before we arrived, so let us be blunt about it. This pile of browser games is not affiliated with, and does not continue, any venture that used this address before. Different owners, different trade, nothing handed over and nothing taken on. Anyone following an old link that no longer leads anywhere gets a plain answer saying the earlier material is gone for good, rather than being flung sideways onto a games page with no explanation.

Two gates a title has to get past

This shelf was not filled by upending the shared library over it. Somebody works through the catalogue one entry at a time, and there are two gates waiting to catch whatever should not be here.

The first gate is the artwork. It has to hold its own against black backdrops with neon cutting across them. The lanes that slip into that world without effort are shooting, warfare, undead and horror, which is why those four crowd the front row.

The second gate is the tap. We open it ourselves and a game has to appear — not a dead black rectangle. Whatever fails that gate leaves the shelf the same day, with the date and the reason recorded beside it, and its address then says outright that it was withdrawn instead of quietly vanishing.

Whatever happens inside a title once it is running belongs to the studio that built it. The terms page deals with that on its own.

No stars, no scores, no live player counts

There is an empty space on this page where a lot of sites like to park a number, and it is empty on purpose. The library feeding this site never sends those figures across — not one. Filling that space would mean sitting down and making the numbers up, which is lying to a reader before they have even reached a game. So the space carries the category name instead, because a category is something anyone can trace back.

Every line here was typed in this room

The blurb that ships alongside a game file goes untouched. It was stamped from a single mould and had been lying on other sites long before we switched the lights on. The wording around every title here was drafted fresh, and the Thai and English sides were each drafted in their own sitting rather than run through a translator, because readers on the two sides trip over completely different things.
